The Yankees Are Comin' to Town

The Yankees are headed into Frisco today for a three game series against the Giants.  The Giants have only played the Yankees once since interleague play started ten years ago so this should be a pretty exciting series.  Cain is pitching tonight and it's going to be his first career start against the New York Yankees so I'm thinking anything could happen.  You never know.  Morris is pitching Saturday and he has had only two starts against the Yanks and didn't do very good either time.  Then there's Lowry on Sunday, another young pitcher who has never faced the Bronx Bombers.  The Yankees just got swept by the Rockies and the Giants had yesterday off.  Let's hope a days rest helped some.  They gotta get out of this rut, I'm too young for all this heartache.

7 Game Losing Streak

The Giants have now been swept for sixth time this season and are now twelve games out of first place.  What the **** is wrong with them?  They are supposed to have one of the best starting rotations in the league and yet they just lost their seventh game in a row!  Zito gave up a grand slam in the bottom of the first today.  He allowed six runs in the first three innings! Is he really worth 126 million dollars?  Based on his performance so far this season, I don’t think so.  He’s now lost three out of his last five starts.  Lincecum got killed yesterday, allowing six runs in the first two innings.  Lowry didn’t do so hot Monday allowing five runs in as many innings.  And Morris was killed Sunday…I could continue you but I think you get the picture.  It’s a vicious cycle.  The bullpen has been good though.  Before today the relief pitchers hadn’t given up a run since Sunday and on Sunday they only allowed one.  In the past it had been the bullpen that struggled and now that they are doing good the starters are struggling.  And now the offense…what is with all these late game rallies?!  Can they not get hits unless they are down by six or more or something?  The past five games or so they have been close to coming back but fell short both times.  Monday and today they were really close.  After Molina’s grand slam I thought the guys would start making things happen but it didn’t turn out that way.  I have really been trying to stay positive but it’s getting really hard.  I keep telling myself it’ll be better tomorrow or the next game.  I keep telling myself it’s just a slump they’ll snap out of it.  But it has been getting harder and harder to believe that.  And then yesterday there was an article in the Fresno Bee that said Sabean says that trading Bonds before the season is over isn’t completely out of the question! He also said that trading some of the Giants other veterans is also a possibility.  I don’t think trading people is the answer.  Some kinks just need to be worked out and the Giants could be back on track to a winning season.  Well, at least I hope so.  I’ve learned that when it comes to baseball you don’t know anything for sure.  There is one thing that I do know, though; it’s going to be a really long summer.

Happy Father's Day

Just wanted to wish all you dad's out there a Happy Father's Day.  Me and my dad are just getting ready to sit down and spend some quality time watching the Giants/Sox game.  So once again I hope all you dads have a great day! Go Giants!

Another Complete Game for Morris

Matty_mo

Matt Morris pitched his third complete game of the season tonight and earned his seventh win.  He also put a halt to the Giants three game losing streak further adding to his reputation as the Giants “stopper”, six out of his seven wins have come after a loss the game before.  After a not so stellar first inning, allowing three runs on three hits, Morris buckled down allowing only four more hits and no runs leading to a 4-3 Giants victory.   Coming into tonight’s game the Giants hadn’t scored a run since Friday night which translates into 21 scoreless innings, so tonight’s win was pretty sweet.  Bonds also ended his homerless streak at twelve games, blasting a two run homer over the centerfield wall in the fourth inning, making him only eight short of tying Aaron.  Tonight’s win was exactly what the doctor ordered.  Offense just needs to do what it did tonight every night instead of every five games or so.  Well, until tomorrow. Go Giants!

Giants v. Rockies (5/25/07 & 5/26/07)

Desperate Times Calls for Desperate Measures

If that wasn’t the most bizarre game I have ever seen in my life…Can anyone top tonight?  It was just one thing after another.  An infielder as a catcher, a starting pitcher as an outfielder, and an outfielder as an infielder?  And I just heard that the D-Rays put in their shortstop as a pitcher!  What is going on? I’m speechless; I don’t even know what to say, I literally have no words.  I just hope that tomorrow afternoon turns out better for the Giants, especially since I am going to the game.

Omar Doesn't Only Have a Magic Glove

It was a battle into the eleventh and the Giants came out on top, thanks to in big part my man Omar Vizquel!  Here’s the breakdown:  Noah Lowry gave up a homer in the first to put the D-backs up by one.  No more runs on either side until the top of the third.  Pedro singles.  Next batter none other than the great Omar Vizquel.  Omar goes yard for the first time this season.  Giants up by two.  Things got tight in the fourth when Hairston hit a leadoff double, advances to third on a groundout then 13_3scores on a groundout.  Then with two outs and no one on Livan and Byrnes get singles and then Jackson hits a triple.  Giants down by one.  The Giants finally managed to tie it up in the ninth when Feliz homers, just in the knick of time.  We’re goin’ to extra innings!  Nothing much until the eleventh. Durham walks. Feliz singles and Durham gets to third on an error, the second one of the night from the D-backs.  Then the one and only Omar Vizquel comes up. With batters in the corners Omar smacks a base hit into left.  Durham scores and the Giants are up by one and it is all they would need.  My second favorite player Steve Kline gets the job done in the bottom of the eleventh, three up three down earning his first save of the season.  Giants win!!  The bull pen really came through tonight.  Chulk, Hennessey, Taschner and Kline didn’t allow any runs in the five innings that they pitched. Now let’s just hope they can keep that momentum going into the weekend for the series against the A's in Frisco.   And just one question before I wrap this up: Does anyone know what happened to Hennessey being the new closer?  I thought Bochy said Brad was taking over for that piece of sh!t Benitez.  Are they just going to try out all the guys and see how they do?  I think that is a really good idea.  Give everyone a chance to earn the spot.

A Tough 10th Inning Loss

After coming from behind, thanks to a two run homer from Dan Ortmeier and RBI double from Ray Durham, the Giants lose it in the tenth.  Kevin Correia gave up another walk-off homer.  His second in as many appearances.  What Sunday’s loss wasn’t heartbreaking enough, we needed an encore?  I know I am probably being really harsh but come on two walk-offs in the last two games he has pitched in.  The Frannie_2 Giants finally have a good starting rotation but the bull pen isn’t there to back them up.  Morris is on the hill tomorrow and he has been simply amazing in his past few starts lets hope he can keep it going tomorrow.  Oh and is there anyone else out there who is lovin’ the ball that Kevin Frandsen is playing?  He is on fire! That diving catch tonight was awesome (#1 Web Gem on Baseball Tonight).  He’s been amazing in the field, doing great at second when Durham was hurt, got the job done at short when Omar was down with a sinus infection and then tonight in left for Barry.  Is there a position that he can’t play?  His bat hasn’t been too shabby either; he’s currently batting .286 with four RBI’s in his last four games.  It is really good to see all the young guys on the Giants doing well. Maybe that catch tonight was a preview for life after Barry.
